Price Index
Every month we publish a current price index on the development of wholesale prices of solar modules. In doing so, we differentiate between the main technologies available on the market.
Since 2009, pvXchange has provided a unique price index for the european market, which has become an invaluable industry tool. Today, it is hard to imagine the industry without our price index, trend data, and in-depth analysis and commentary.

Price trend for solar modules by month from March 2022 to March 2023 per category (the prices shown reflect the average offer prices for duty paid goods on the European spot market). Please note: from May 2022 the price index is based on a different classification! For continuity reasons, module prices for April 2022 were re-calculated, using the new classification system:

Notes on reading the PV price index
- Only prices for photovoltaic modules are shown.
- The prices are not end-customer prices. For an average turnkey solar system in Germany, the quoted modules prices should be multiplied by a factor of approximately 4 to 6.
- The prices stated reflect the average prices quoted on the European Spot Market (Chinese goods customs-cleared).
Origin-based prices for crystalline modules are no longer applicable since August 2017.
Prices for thin film modules are no longer applicable since September 2013.
